How to share a file with a link instead of an attachment

If the same file needs to move through chat, email, and tickets, a single link is often easier than several copies of the same attachment.

The basic idea is simple. Upload the file once, copy the generated URL, and paste that link wherever the conversation already lives.

When a link is easier

A link is useful when more than one person needs the same file, when the conversation spans more than one tool, or when you want the share to expire automatically later.

When an attachment is easier

If the recipient expects the file right inside the message and the workflow is one-to-one, an attachment may still be simpler. The trade-off is duplication. Every thread ends up with its own copy.

A practical workflow

  1. Choose the file in the upload form.
  2. Pick a TTL that matches the conversation window.
  3. Upload once and paste the same link into chat, email, or a ticket.

If you want to try that workflow, start with the send file with link page or go straight to the homepage tool.
